SOMETHING TO WORK ON
With its 51-0 romp past visiting Oneonta completing a 9-0 regular season in which it outscored its opponents 427-43, defending Class B state champion Chenango Forks would seem to have little to complain about heading into it's Section 4 title game with Norwich on Friday at Union-Endicott's Ty Cobb Stadium.
However, the Blue Devils were flagged nine times for penalties for a total of 90 yards against the Yellowjackets, not the first time this season that Forks has racked up a sizable amount of penalty yardage.
"It's a concern, those penalties are drive killers, and against a good football team, you're going to have to punt," Forks coach Kelsey Green said. "A lot of that is mental. However, if that's something we focus on, I think we can take of that."
Aside from the penalties, Forks' victory over Oneonta was much like its other ones this season. It featured a great running attack -- Forks ran 50 times for 365 yards -- and a stellar defensive effort. Oneonta mustered 96 yards of offense and three first downs, two of those coming on its opening drive.
