Chenango Forks was nearly unstoppable, scoring on eight
of its nine possessions, en route to 56-7 victory at
Whitney Point in a Section 4 Football Conference
Division III victory at Whitney Point
The Blue Devils (5-0) averaged 14 yards
per play, including 12 yards per rush.
Quarterback Tim Batty led the offense.
He opened the scoring with a 66-yard touchdown run and
threw two 50-plus yard touchdown passes in the second
half while amassing 131 yards on four completions. Batty
also rushed for 96 yards on three carries.
"We really have been coming together
on our (offensive) line the past couple of weeks," Batty
said. "We knew if we could make some blocks, we could
pick up some big chunks of yards."
Joel Hughes gave Whitney Point good
field position when he returned the opening kickoff 31
yards the Eagles' 44. But the drive ended after an
unsuccessful conversion on fourth-and-1 at Forks' 34.
On the next play, Batty kept the
option around the corner and went 66 yards for to
scored. Five minutes later Ben Farnham scored on a
4-yard TD run and the rout was on.
Forks made it 28-0 in less than a
two-minute span in the second quarter when Batty tossed
his two TD pass-- a 52-yard to John Florence and a
57-yard to Zach Vredenburgh.
Brett Jump led Whitney Point with 25
carries for 102 yards. |
