non-league game |
1961
JV record: ? |
|
Tid-bits
of info from the 1961 season courtesy of microfilm of the
newspapers:
- In the 0-0 tie
against Windsor (who ended up 4-2-1 and a half-game out of a
first place tie) Windsor returned the 2nd half kickoff to
the Forks 6 inch line. The article did not say who
tackled the guy. First and goal Windsor, and the Forks D
stuffed them on 3 runs and one pass! (It was the Forks
second non-loss to Windsor ever (0-??-1 lifetime prior to
the game in a series that had its' first game in 1942)
- Walton was 6-0 (5-0
in league play) coming into the game against Forks and the
Forks (1-4-1 at the time) shocked them 7-0. Walton lost the
next week too to finish in a 3 way tie for first at 5-2 with
Newark Valley and Whitney Point. The tie against us kept
Windsor from being in that pack and a 4 way tie at 5-2.
Forks was the spoiler for two teams, Kept Walton from
winning the title outright, kept Windsor from a share of
it.
